We just received a phone call from our realtor today at 4:30 p.m. and much to our surprise, the prospective buyers accepted our counter offer. The tentative closing date is March 19th. Much needs to happen yet before we officially close. The buyers will have a home inspection done and since they will be getting conventional funding, there will need to be an appraisal. There might be a bit of a hang up on the appraisal since the real estate market is still soft and there really isn't a comparable house to ours in the area which has sold. We will in essence be setting the new trend once again in the real estate market in this area as home prices are beginning to inch up.
Kim and I are very excited to be returning to our home of California. We were both born and raised there. Kim's three children still live in the Sacramento area and I have a brother and sister in the Bay Area as well as an aunt in Auburn. We are also looking forward to the warmer weather.
We have much to do in the next four weeks. We will probably have to make a trip down to the Rocklin/Roseville area to try to arrange for a place to live. We will be looking for a short term apartment or condo. We need to get a quote from a moving company and I need to set up a property management company for our one remaining rental property in Bremerton. Then there is the packing...
Showing no favoritism to any of Kim's kids, our primary focus for finding our next home will be in the Whitney Oaks or Whitney Ranch area of Rocklin. There are many areas where we could settle that would be centrally located to all of Kim's kids but the Rocklin area has the greatest number of golf courses within a close proximity (12 within a 15 minute drive), and since I play a lot of golf, this is a factor in deciding where to live. If possible, we would like to live in a 55+ gated retirement community which has a clubhouse, fitness center and pool.
We are also hoping that once we make the move and get settled, it will free up more time for Kim and I visit my kids and our grandchildren a little more often.

So, California, here we come. 2013 should be quite an adventure.

PRAISE THE LORD!! This is definitely the hand of God in our eyes, welcome back, let us know if there is anything we can help with...we are actively seeking down that way as well. So exciting to have some people near us we can relate to! Love, Tom & Britt
ReplyDeletewe'll have to figure out when the best time will be for you guys to visit when the air won't bother kim. november through march is cold, but there aren't any burning fields. you won't be able to come during planting, and you won't like how hot it is in the summer....
ReplyDeletegood luck finding a place!
Pullman won't be any hotter than Rocklin in July and August. The average temperatures in July and August are 95 degrees with somedays getting close to 110.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I have an idea Sarah. Keep your eyes open for librarian jobs in or around Rocklin, Roseville and Lincoln.
ReplyDeleteWe're happy that it didn't end up taking too much time for you to sell for what you wanted - it was definitely meant to be! Looking forward to having you guys closer!
ReplyDeleteYahooooooo! I will tell Kaylee the good news today, she is going to be so pumped. What a great adventure and new season for you to start on together. Get ready to make some amazing memories!
ReplyDeleteOh and I don't think anyone has a preference where you live (although we are all partial to our respective cities). As long as you are comfortable, happy and in a place that fits your needs, which of course includes lots of golf options for Pop.
ReplyDeleteWonderful news! Rya has been asking to see Papa & Nama lately. I guess we will have to get up there asap. :)
