I haven't posted anything on our blog in a few days because since making our offer on the house we decided on, we have been very busy, spending a lot of time on the phone making arrangements and ironing out details.
For the first time in my life, I found myself stuck in between a buyers market in Washington and a sellers market here in California. It is not a position neither Kim nor I are particularly fond of. The emotional roller coaster is for the birds.
The offer we made on the house at 2233 Dorrington Dr. in Roseville was accepted even through the sellers received an all cash offer that exceeded ours. As we were walking through the house, Kim noticed the sellers were Christians and the husband was a retired firefighter. Kim and our realtor felt compelled to submit a cover letter with our offer explaining the "connection" and it apparently did the trick as the sellers accepted our offer even through it was lower.
Today, we arranged for a 12x30 public storage unit just in case there is a little lag time between moving our furnishings out of our home and into the new home. It is quite possible we might not even need it but the small, reasonable amount we have to pay for the unit is well worth the peace of mind of knowing we have a place to put our stuff. We also opened a new checking account.
At 3:00 o'clock today, we will be at the new house doing an inspection with a home inspector. Kim is going to walk around and take measurements trying to figure out how to decorate and what furniture we will need or use. I will walk around and try to figure out what repairs or projects I will have waiting for me when we move in.
Later today or tomorrow, we will call the moving company and get on their calendar for a moving date. We need to get right on that so they will bring over moving supplies (free) as soon as possible so we can start packing.
We will head for home tomorrow morning, hopefully by 6:00 a.m. Lots of packing when we get home and all the other stuff that goes along with moving.
just let us know what you need. if there is "family" stuff, like for jake or whatever, that needs to get stored in our basement, we can do that.
